The Hole in the Rock

I accidentally pushed publish before I had written a commentary....Sigh. Now to add the text....

Today we took a fast boat out to the 'hole in the rock', a hole 18 metre high ( 60 feet ) carved by the sea through an island at the end of Cape Brett.

The wind had got up and was whipping up very large seas by the time we got there so we could not take the boat through.
A few people were looking rather uncomfortable as we tossed from trough to wave top and the sea just boiled through the hole in the rock.

The blip shows a smaller boat ahead of us braving the heavy seas for a good look at the hole. Unfortunately the wind was whipping up spray against the windows and the blurring is from trickles of water running down the glass.

The extra is the photo I actually prefer . It shows a scene that was somewhat sheltered and I loved the light from that sky.

Tonight we travel by ferry to Russell for our farewell dinner. It is sad to think this wonderful holiday is nearly over.
