Enders State Park

Another great day which began with a visit to the next state park on Beck's and Rob's A to Z of Connecticut State Parks:Enders State Park. The beauty of exploring these parks is that you never quite know what you are going to find until you get there. Some of them are very well documented on the Internet, but others less so. We had thought that Enders was going to be a brief visit en route to lunch at Charlie and Rhonda's but in fact it was a pretty gorge with a series of five falls for us to explore so we stayed awhile clambering over rocks and getting different takes on the falls.

Then it was on to Charlie and Rhonda's beautiful mountain top home with views of forest to the horizon in every direction. After a delicious lunch (these seem to be becoming a habit!) we took a walk around their woodland which Charlie has mapped for orienteering and talked about the management of it; the different trees; the resident bear and deer and saw the many blue heron nests on the trees on their pond. Sadly the blue herons had all disappeared on their winter holidays.

Today's blip is of one of the Enders falls.
