Back In Sweden!

Well, not literally back!  But this weekend the skiing is in Sweden and that is what is on the TV. This is the very last weekend of the cross-country ski season and this time they are in Falun, Sweden. This weekend it was 3 days of skiing instead of 2 - a mini-tour. Yesterday were the sprint races, today the 10k for the ladies and 15k for the men, both in classic style. Tomorrow it will be the same distances in freestyle.

So here I am, cosy at home, with my coffee, the last two smiley face jammie dodger biscuits I got for my birthday (see Thursday's blip), and my two Dala horses which come from the same area as where the skiing is taking place.

Particularly exciting today is that Sweden had one of their team on the podium - Calle Halfvarsson - who came in second today (after Russia’s Alexander Bolshunov). Calle is also from this area so he had a lot of support from the crowds. The Swedish men’s team have not had a very good season so this strong place on the podium was great for them!

The weather looked perfect in Falun - cold but sunny and pure blue sky. But here at home?  Snow on and off all day! Quite a shock to the system considering our warm and sunny day yesterday (warm enough to drive my car with the top down!). I went out for a walk around the village late afternoon and it was cold and windy - minus 11C with the wind chill!  Brrrr!
