Emus

The emu population in the Park is on the move.  Most likely getting ready to breed.

Fact: You can't tell the difference between male and female adult emus by looking at them.  You have to get very personal in order to tell them apart.

Fact:  the female emu totters off to find another partner once she has laid her eggs.  She has no intention of being a good mum, not on your life.  She's a good time girl.

Fact:  The male emu sits on the eggs and neither eats or drinks during the incubation period.  He loses a lot of weight.

Fact:  He rears the chicks - who never ever knowingly see their mother again
