Loyal companions and Farewells

Unaccustomed heat hit us the moment we got off the plane ten days ago, and the first few days of our stay were hot. While in Puerto de Mogán on Thursday we'd been warned that rain was on the way, and, sure enough, grey clouds and intermittent rain were around for a few days after that, which brought a drop in temperature. Since then, the grey clouds have gone, but it's been rather hazy. Through it all, these cans have been our invaluable companions. High-factor protection has been essential all the time, clouds or not, and it's been a great relief at siesta time to have this cooling spray at hand.

Blipping cans of sun products shows what a lazy day this turned out to be. We spent some time around the pool in our bungalow complex (Carl more than I), and siestas also featured (more for me than for Carl). Still, this was to be our last night, and we couldn't let that go unmarked. Our final evening meal was in El Rancho steak house (the variety of food choice here is remarkable), in a part of town which seemed new at first but proved to be a part we'd been to on a previous wander. The general laziness of the day extended to getting a taxi there and back (like most things here, taxi fares are low, making it a much more viable option than at home to stick out a hand and hail a taxi), because on the map it looked too far away to walk (it wasn't). (The food wasn't great, and we wouldn't hurry back.)

After our meal it was time to visit our favourite bars for one last time. The best place for cocktails is definitely the Eiffel, and we've been regular patrons there during our stay, so it was only right and proper to begin there. It was terrific. My second choice was a Kir Royale, which I'd tried a couple of times before in other places with varying success. This was not only the best I had here, but it was the best ever anywhere. Before we were allowed to pay the bill the owners insisted that we have a farewell glass of champagne on the house, which we couldn't possibly refuse. Emotional hugs all round ended our final visit to Eiffel.

After a couple of other places it was also only right and proper to end the night in O'Seven, another of our favourite haunts. More emotional hugs here brought our last night to an end.
