More Jugendstil

Our plan this morning was to head to St Gilles and take a look at the Victor Horta Museum.

However after a horrible journey in a really rickety tram (the 81), we discovered the museum has the friendly opening hours of 2 pm until 5:30 pm.  And given that we were there at 11, that would have been quite a wait.  Our guide book said there was lots of Jugendstil in the area around the museum, so we had a bit of a traipse around but I was definitely not feeling the love in the area.  There was some stuff to look at but it was pretty meh in comparison to some of the places we'd seen.

So we jumped in a modern tram (the 92) and let it take us through the city and out to  Schaarbeek.  We liked Schaarbeek a lot.  Open and not as full of traffic as St Gilles.  And lots of Jugendstil to boot.

We went back to the Horta museum and there are lots of really lovely things to see, but you're not allowed to photograph any, because photographs make houses fall down or something.

And now the big problem - where do we go to eat tonight?
