A view from Jeanneb

Who's that?

Up early for Granny duty as usual and about an hour and a half later Grumpa arrived on the scene. She couldn't take her eyes off him. Not sure she could believe what she was seeing!
Well she doesn't get to see him as often as me and he hasn't shaved off his winter beard yet.

When we were all up and ready we headed down to the city's harbour side to visit the M Shed, Bristol's newest museum for our now annual visit to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. It was brilliant as usual of course and Eda loved the atmosphere and sensory appeal of it all. My favourite shot called 'Arctic Treasure'. An Arctic fox almost blending into it's background carrying a large white snow goose egg. The detail of it's fur was fabulous but it's Amber coloured eyes were what hooked me.

On the quay a steam train was running to take people along to SS Great Britain. It was to celebrate 40 years of steam of th Bristol Harbour Railway and is going to be operating on many weekends until November.

Just behind the M Shed the whole area is being developed and is known as Gaol House Steps as it is the site of the old Gaol. (Some of the buildings still visible) Lots of shops and restaurants have appeared some in quirky two tiered containers. Being Saturday most were very busy but we managed to get a table in the Olive Shed for tapas for lunch overlooking the harbour.

A lovely day out and Eda slept all the way back home.

More from Bristol Harbour here including the fox which is a phot of a postcard I bought as no photography was allowed in the exhibition.
