Men at Work

I'd been looking forward to what the day in stored ever since I heard of the opportunity. I was offered an internship last year in New York with this production company. As I was in New York we rang Anthony who offered me it in the first place and arranged to meet today. As he and my Mum go back a long way he asked if I felt like working from 9am - 6pm. I jumped at the chance and wasn't going to pass up the opportunity.

The company 'ARF' produce adverts but they are also hired for films to do specialist shots using their state of the art equipment. I got the impression this is what they work for. Talking to Anthony he seems to enjoy the challenge of working to different specs on different films and working on new exciting camera actions.

So I arrived and was working on 3D imaging all day with Anthony and Scott somebody from another company. We worked with 3 cameras focussed on a turn-table photographing study. In our case it was somebody's face/body. I'm not sure how public this knowledge is so I'll keep in on the down-low. But we were developing new concepts and going through the first test with this new software and technique to see if it worked. Early stages yet and unfortunately I only had the one day, but it went well despite a few complications.

If everything runs smoothly and they can get it work how they want it to, there is a view to use it in a new film with an A-list actor and I mean A-list! I was used for the 3D body scan, sadly the software wouldn't upload the images quick enough to see myself in the programme. But it was a lot of fun and I gained a lot of knowledge and learnt a lot. There was so much to take in, I hope I retained most of it!

Finally, everybody there welcomed me and we all got on really well. People were very interested in the work I'd been doing in South America and I feel I made some good contacts and would be welcomed back. We'll definitely be keeping in touch! :D
