Criminal neglect

The top large photo is what greets all visitors to our village after they have been to see the wonders of the Basilica at Ottobeuren.

Two lovely plastic covered cow silage heaps and lots of loose bits and pieces lying around.

And on the other side of the road next to the barn, there are a further two large heaps of plastic covered cow food, again with shreds of the plastic lying around to decorate the scene.

The 8 little photos are just a selection of about 20 that I took of bits of plastic sheeting from the silage heap that have been blown some 500m over a neighbouring organic farmers field and down to the river Schwelk which runs into the Danube and then eventually the Mediterranean.

My farming friend will certainly not be cleaning up his rubbish. In fact, I would guess that he will be in making sure his son and grandson have cleaned the pavement in front of his house and cow stables in the village centre and everything is looking spick & span and he can strut around as he has done for the last 60 odd years as the most important farmer in the village.

I suspect he will be taking his rightful place in the pews of the village church several times at the weekend. When we first came here 16 years ago, we were warned that "important" farmers had their places in the pews and one was not to simply sit where one wanted to.

Thank goodness not all our young children always follow the wise and elderly but sadly they will still be swimming in the contaminated waters and eating the contaminated fish these criminals have left behind when they pass on.
