It has been quite a day.

Another of my Blips was published by The National (a newspaper, for the benefit of those outside Scotland). A nice way to start.

Many eyes were on Edinburgh in the early afternoon as former Catalan minister Dr Carla Ponsati appeared in court to face a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Madrid Government Spanish authorities. She’s now an academic at St Andrews University but faces politically motivated charges in Spain.

Well, Scottish justice wasn’t ready to turn her into a political prisoner and she’s free on bail pending a full hearing next month. It is worth remembering you can spend up to 4 years in jail without trial in Spain.

This morning she started a crowdfunder to meet her legal fees, hoping for £40,000.  She got £100,000 within 2 hours and the total was over £190,000 this evening.

Gaelic class tonight... remember that 70 something hitchhiker I picked up in the middle of nowhere on Lewis on Saturday morning? Well, our tutor is from the same village. Turns out the old guy is banned from all the nearby pubs and by the bus company, so he has to hitchhike into Stornoway for a refreshment.

Three members of the class were handing out goodies tonight, so a Blip presented itself.
