Going home!

After the bright skies yesterday it started snowing last night and this morning it was snowing heavily. The weather changes so quickly in the mountains, blue skies at one moment and heavy snow falling the next. I have seen enough snow this winter, both here and at home, and am more than ready for spring.

I was up very early, packed and did all the things I had to do to to pack up the apartment and was walking to the station by 8am - in heavy falling snow. It was coming down so thickly it was quite incredible, everything was absolutely white once again. I got to Luke just after 9pm and he was looking bright and cheery, he had just had a shower and was waiting for his physio session. I went with Luke to the physio department to see what exercises he was given and the surgeon came by to see us. In the short time we have spent at this hospital I have been so impressed, the doctors and nurses have all been fantastic. Luke's surgeon is the 'chefartz' of the orthopaedic department meaning the chief surgeon of that department and yet he made the time to find Luke at physio this morning to show him his MRI scans and explain the before and after scans, where they inserted the metal plate and just how large that meniscus rupture was.

We got back to the apartment from the hospital by taxi, where I made a quick lunch and Luke had a sleep while I finished packing up. Then we got the taxi to Zurich, our driver was so nice and made sure that Luke was comfortably positioned in the car - he also gave me an invoice to submit to the insurance company for the cost of the taxi ride, as he said they usually cover that cost after an injury like Luke's.

Unfortunately the BA flight is delayed by over 2 hours so we are sitting in the lounge relaxing, Luke has his foot up to avoid swelling - thank goodness Luke had wheelchair assistance as it took forever to get here, this airport is quite a labyrinth and we must have gone in about 5 lifts, up and down different sections of the airport. It will be a very late night home due to that delay....

This is the view I took before we left the apartment - low cloud and continuous snow meant the mountains were not visible today.
