Kiwi and Friends

Spent today working in the ticket office of our local historical railway. It sure was a great day with people of all ages turning up to ride on the train and the Model T Railcar.
A year or two back it was always Thomas the tank engine and friends for Easter but the Thomas franchise put their fees up to such an extent that a little railway like ours could not afford to do it.
Some bright spark came up with the idea of making it a truly Kiwi weekend. A local wrote a great children's book about our native birds etc. The carriages and engines all have names, Kiwi is on the train and station handing out easter eggs to all the children. Such a fun and happy time which runs for three days.  361 rode the train today and many of them went for several rides. Their tickets last all day and there is so much to see and do at both ends of the track, like old time movies, free face painting and popcorn, a bouncy castle etc. What happy children, it was fun to talk to them as they arrived back.
Do look at the extras of the train and the kids with their face paint on
