The Risen Christ

A trip to Liverpool.

I had two choices for my blip. Billy Fury in action with a tickling stick is the extra.

We were on our way to the Liverpool Tate to see the Ken Simons exhibition. The Tate is 30 years old this year, KS was in charge of Art Handling until last year when he retired. In one room he has chosen his personal favourites from the Tate’s collection.

Later we went to choral evensong at the Anglican Cathedral. Over the big west door is this wonderful sculpture. It is by Elisabeth Frink, and is the only piece she ever needed help with as she was dying of cancer when she sculpted it (she died the year after its completion). Symbolic of physical and spiritual renewal it apparently meant a lot to her. I think you can tell.
