Route 66

I have had the pleasure today of joining Corinthian and the Bus Pass Walkers on Route 66 from Dewsbury to Heckmondwike.
We followed the river Calder and then branched off along the Spen Valley.
Although quite near to me I have never done this walk before.
The river was very high due to the snow and recent heavy rain.
This photo shows the overflow, which had been dry on Sunday, but today was full of water.
The foot bridge we crossed and two road bridges.
Fortunately we only had a slight shower or two.
Finished up with refreshments in an old fashioned cafe in Heckmondwike.
Food cooked exactly as everyone ordered.
Especially C and R’s bacon and tomato bap, with bacon “ well “ cooked.

Many thanks to C for organising the walk.
Hope to do the rest of the route some other time.
