We went up the coast to Allonby where the photo was taken, then around the Solway Coastline. It's  about as far Northwest as you can get on mainland England. Scotland is only a stone's throw away. It was very wet and dull but bleakly beautiful. Most places were closed around Allonby but we managed to find coffee in Silloth and a pub open for a sandwich at Burgh by Sands. Really liked that area, then rather more prosaically to Carlisle to buy a long mirror which some guests have been nagging us about for a while. Mission accomplished and out later for a mini Blipmeet!

The extra shows oystercatchers. I do like oystercatchers.
