Artist - Betty Woodward at the Cooper Gallery

This small exhibition, on loan from Tate Liverpool, is due to end at the weekend, so as I was going to take Ann into Barnsley so I could have the car I decided I'd better visit.  I love the experimentation and bright colours of this mix of ceramic sculpture and painting, but most of all I really enjoyed listening to Betty Woodward talking about her work on video.  She began her working life as a conventional potter and over the years her more creative artistic side came to dominate her work.  It's great fun.  Unfortunately she died at the beginning of January just as she was due to come to the opening event in Barnsley.
