The Cairngorms

It is so difficult to choose a photo today, so I have given some extras too.

We woke to a dry but overcast day.  Breakfast at the Coylumbridge is fantastic, and I think I really over-indulged...... but didn't eat much for the rest of the day.

After breakfast we loaded our luggage, just overnight bags, into the car, and headed up the hill to the mountain railway at Cairngorm.  However, it was so busy that they had stopped people going up to the car park, and were operating a courtesy bus from half way up.   We joined the queue and it was very efficient, so we were up in no time.  Joined another queue for the mountain railway and eventually arrived at the top.

However, there were no views, just a thick band of mist!   We had coffee, and met up with our friends who had also gone up.  On the way back down we had wonderful views of the surrounding hills and countryside, and of Loch Morlich.

And the sun was out!   We walked around Loch an Eilean, a brilliant walk, in bright sunshine and it was quite warm.  And then headed home, via Dunkeld where the HG wanted to check out the beginning of a club walk.
What a wonderful two days we have had.  It was a lovely surprise for me, and the HG thoroughly enjoyed it too.

We met a lot of people (the HG talks to everyone) from many countries, and all were very impressed with Scotland.  They certainly saw it in good weather.

My thanks to all who sent me good wishes, stars and hearts for my Blip birthday yesterday.   Seven years is a long time, butI have enjoyed every minute of it....
