Great Excitement!

The Norfolk Coast Partnership has today launched the start of its celebration to mark Norfolk being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty 50 years ago.

The Partnership has produced a book called ‘Walk With Me’ which is a celebration of this area in photographs and poetry and as one of the contributors I was invited to the book launch today at Norfolk Wildlife Trust visitor Centre at Cley Marshes.

Various special guests who were involved in the Partnership and the production of the book attended this morning for speeches and us photographers and poets, whose work was included in the book, were invited for lunch and a special presentation of the launch.

It was a great chance to meet other photographers some of whom I knew and to chat to others who I had had contact with but never met.

The main photo is of Julia our photography teacher whose classes I have very much enjoyed and who has inspired many of us to appreciate and make the most of this beautiful area in which we live through the lens of our cameras. Julia encouraged us to submit photos for consideration for this project.  I had two photos included in the book which are in the extras.

I have included one of the poems from the book below, about a Norfolk Church.

Sea Church

Outside
A congregation of flints
Rock hard, napped smooth
By collision,
Each with a fractured face
Like a distant nubula,
Caskets of sea space, resolute
against the slap of time.
