Blip Meet Day 1

Beaufort, South Carolina is located on the Atlantic Ocean about three hours from where I live  in the middle of the state.   Today Diane (dfb24) and I drove along the back roads to make our way there so that she could see something of my home state beside the interstate highway.   We stopped at several places, including Broxton Bridge where I went to see the reenactment a few weeks ago.   Then on the Yemassee where we met up with Joyce (NJoyce06) who drove up from Florida.   We then stopped at the Old Sheldon Church Ruins before making our way to our hotel for the week..which is right on the Beaufort River.  After a wonderful meal..which was really needed as we skipped lunch..we walked around the town with a map of the historic homes in the area..they are just beautiful with their balconies and large moss covered oak trees.   When we got back to the hotel, a soft orange sunset awaited us.     We all had hundreds of photos to download and look at!!

The photos in the collage are from top left..Frampton Plantation, the Salkahatchie River, Sheldon Church Ruins, a fig tree flower, one of the historic homes from the 1800's, and the bridge over the Beaufort River from the park.

Tomorrow the weather may not cooperate for any outdoor sightseeing but we have an alternate plan!   Plenty of museums to visit!

In the extra is a photo of Diane taking photos of cotton that was growing along the highway.   Notice her coat..yesterday it was 75F here..today it was in the 40s when we traveled and barely got to 60F.
