Housewife's Choice

Moody.....

Monday.  As if yesterday wasn't bad enough today has dawned dark and rainy once again.  Little B took one look at the weather and promptly took himself back to bed for the morning, only venturing out for a tiddle at lunch time!   Not planning to go anywhere today, might be babysitting Lucy this evening, although she should be in bed and asleep..... fingers crossed!

I just realised that I should say a little something about our special doggy...
He came to us in December 2011,  only a week before Christmas.  He was living at the local RSPCA and my youngest daughter, who has begged for a puppy each and every year for the last 15 years, found him on one of her visits.  He had come from a local gypsy campsite, was running around with no mother in a field of Lurchers at only 3 weeks old.   The RSPCA had come to try and look over the Lurchers but they were only able to take Little B and his sister.  My daughter begged us to go and look at him as she's fallen in love with Dennis (this was to be his kennel name) and so I went with her one freezing cold afternoon.  When we arrived at the kennels Rosie saw one of the ladies who told her that Dennis had already been reserved.  She was heartbroken.  The lady advised us that there had been a litter of 8 Jack Russell puppies left in a box that we could look at and I was secretly rather pleased as these were "proper" Jacks and not the fluffy mix that was Dennis!   Rosie didn't like any of the puppies and just as we were getting ready to leave that same lady came running over to tell us that she'd made a mistake.  The other potential adopter's dog had not liked him and so he was now available..... well Rosie had him in her arms in seconds and spent some time cuddling him.  We duly reserved him, had our home visit and then waited for the ok to pick him up.  As soon as we arrived home with him he perked up, skittering around the kitchen and licking everyone, he seemed to know he was home..... and now almost 7 years later, a few cruciate ligament ops and accidental poisonings..... he is the love of our lives and I can't imagine life without him.  He's a delight and it's so rewarding to have seen him blossom :)
