Tricolored Heron....

...and nest.
It rained most of the day today, but the rain was pretty light & misty at times, so after breakfast we headed to Pickney Island National Wildlife Refuge, where we walked back to the Ibis Pond. We were thrilled to find the trees in the middle of the pond full of nesting Ibis & herons; in the water lots of common gallinule, and assorted birds flying around.
We went to Hilton Head Island as well as Bluffton, where we had a late lunch. Finished off the day at the Maritime Center. I've put a few pictures into the extras....the first is a juvenile white ibis (the juveniles are brown and white), a pelican that was sitting on one of the pylons of the dock at the maritime center, a heron landing on a branch and a bird which I think is a common grackle. :))
