So comes snow after fire, and even dragons have their endings.

Wake super early and sit in bed playing with presentation slides. Still get up in time for breakfast and the keynote.

Multitask through the first session of the day - Swift and lightning talk preparation - before going for a quick call at lunch time. Which turns into a wee lie down.

The first session of the afternoon is a difficult choice - Jez & Chris’s wisdom or Andy’s intro to Scheme. Scheme it is. The final session, virtual Fika with Tracey, from the seclusion of my room.

Then it’s lightning talk time. Too many and varied to remember in full or describe in detail. Jon’s FizzBuzz in the Preprocessor goes down a storm. Dom’s exposition on the fundamental unknowability of life is wonderful. There’s the launch of a C++ diversity group called #include, while Gail explains how the community should look after unicorns (women & minorities). Fran explains the math behind the conference T-shirt. I get some laughs with my continuation of last year’s timed out talk on ambiguity, but Pete stole the show, saving his visual comedy clues till last.

This is followed by the traditional pizza/beer/wine reception, where we're *supposed* to talk to the exhibitors. When the free vittles expire, a posse of old timers head for more sustenance. The Caribbean Croft serves up huge plates of traditional salt cod and jerky. There’s okra and aubergines for the veggies. And imported beer and rum for the drinkers.

We get split over two tables. Dom, Tom, Steve, Fran, and I have wide ranging conversations - mainly of the silly variety - and time spirals towards closing. I forego the ensuing hotel bar, opting for darkness over inebriation.
