Hermit

Legend has it that the wee upturned-boat shaped building in the foreground is the original hermit's cell.
King Alexander I supposedly took shelter there when stormbound in 1123 and so promised to build a priory in thanks to the Hermit. Whatever the facts of the matter, this wee structure probably dates from the late 15th C, but may be on the site of the original.
I love the way the walling on the right incorporates one of the huge chunks of upstanding bedrock!
