Watching a Crane fly

Somerset has Cranes. You know, birds with long necks and red on the top of their heads.

We set off this morning with the hope of seeing a Crane fly.

We failed miserably. There was a strong, cool wind and no sun. We shall have to try again.

So what was the next best thing? Why, to see a Cranefly of course.
I believe it is a female. But I am not sure which variety of Cranefly it is. There are at least two of my followers who may be able to enlighten me. I would be grateful if they could.

Later discovered, thanks to Mollyblobs, that it is a Ptychoptera.
