World Hats

“Not a major snow event,” said the Local News though it was certainly impressive enough for this unhardy group of Europeans – and for the Yankees, who postponed their Home Opener until tomorrow and caused us to engage in a hurried flurry of rescheduling of travel plans as a result. But not at least until after Beck and I had wrapped up and been for a wander round the snowy neighborhood whilst the kids stayed in bed. We bought back breakfast. Then we got the Subway to see the ‘David Bowie Is…’ exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum – without checking their opening hours – and found that they were closed. And then we went over to the Lower East Side to the Tenement Museum only to find that all of their tours for today were already booked up. Luckily the day was saved by a quick trip round the corner to Katz’s Deli and the demolition of a massive Reuben (corned beef and pastrami) – not to mention brisket, matzo balls and knishes. Oh, and we sat next to the Mayor and thus narrowly avoided being on the news for the second day running…! Later on we went to MoMA and then bought more t-shirts…
