On Top Of The Mountain

We were lucky today that the early morning mist had cleared by the time we took the cable car to the top of Table Mountain and we were able to enjoy the stunning views.

The main photo is looking down over the centre of Cape Town towards the waterfront and across the bay. In extras is the same view with the early morning cloud inversion, the view down towards the Cape Of Good Hope and one of the numerous dassies that bask at the edge of the rocks in between death defying stunts as they saunter casually down precipitous slopes. Apparently they can even hang upside down to hide underneath overhangs and collapse their rib cage to squeeze into narrow gaps when hiding from prey; even more unlikely, they are related to the elephant.

We spent about three hours walking around the top of the mountain, then a couple more exploring the centre of the old town before walking back to the hotel via the canal district, with its swish apartments and yachts, and a waterfront bar for some much needed "refreshment". They do an excellent range of craft ales in these parts!
