Fire On The Mountain

On our first full day in Cape Town we went on a small group tour around the Cape Peninsula, just 4 couples representing 5 different nationalities.

Amongst the highlights (not quite in order of appearance in extras) were the view of The 12 Apostles from Camps Bay, Hout Bay with its rhino shaped Headland and the Penguins at Boulders Bay.

We also enjoyed the walk up to the lighthouse at Cape Point.

The last stop was the Kirstenbosch Gardens and as we approached we could see there was a bush fire on the slopes of Table Mountain above the Gardens. From the gardens themselves, we got a spectacular view of the fleet of helicopters dropping water to put the fire out, as shown in the main blip. The final extra is a more Apocalypse now style shot.

It's our 41st Anniversary today and when we got back to our hotel room, our bed had been decorated and there was a bottle of bubbly on ice for us. Apparently, housekeeping had noticed the cards we'd brought with us to open and the manager arranged the surprise for us; a nice touch.
