Casting light

More meetings today. More writing of draft submissions to the forthcoming Mental Health Inquiry. We have been told that the focus of attention is on what can be done by other than professionals. My focus has been on pointing out how much that is not in our power to influence is thrown at MHS because many persons with mental health problems have housing difficulties, unemployment, social isolation, poverty, substance use/dependence. Those are important modifying factors, and need resolving. If all the Inquiry achieves is to get those needs addressed, it will have been worth while.

On my way home on my bike, I had to stop at the corner with Grafton Road, before going across and onto Grafton Bridge. I was attracted by the reflections, and the light and shade, in the ACS building. Googled ACS  a few minutes ago, and found that it is the initials of a US chemical company. However, in Auckland ACS stands for Auckland Clinical Studies. This is a company which specialises in conducting phase 1 and 2 studies of new pharmaceutical agents, some of which were discovered here in Auckland.
