After a quiet morning's work I decided to stretch my legs ahead of Sunday's race by linking up three adjacent parks - of which Sofia has plenty - near my flat. So, I made my way to the monumental communist era National Palace of Culture, successfully buying stamps and posting two postcards on the way. Then I ran to the end of South Park and back, finishing near a mural dedicated to Bulgaria's greatest athlete, Stefka Kostadinova, who has held the world high jump record of 2:09 since 1987. It was somewhat warm!
