The best laid plans ?

The plans at Dalry Primary in North Ayrshire definitely didn't go awry.

It's fantastic to see how each school is working out its own theme and context for the creative work their pupils are undertaking as they investigate George Wyllie's work.

We've seen the Geography Higher class at Bellahouston Academy making its boat out of an Ordnance Survey map; the Advanced Higher English class at Hillhead High School preparing to decorate its boat in haiku poems; St Ninian's Primary in Gourock making views of the town the theme; Elmvale Primary School in Springburn illustrating the locomotive industry on its boat; Kilbowie Primary in Clydebank, with its shipbuilding and Singer inspired vessel. And that's just a sample list.

Dalry Primary School in North Ayrshire is located in a very creatively planned building and the day its boat(s) were picked up, P7 pupils proudly took me on a tour. Their very large boat now sits in the boat shed in the Mitchell, awaiting the official opening at the end of this week. The boat, like all the smaller ones made by pupils from P1 to P7 itself, was actually made with copies of the school plans. These are definitely Dalry Primary Schools boats.

As well as the boat going on display at the exhibition from each school, individual pupils are also making boats for the big Hogmanay launch on the river. Dalry has an entire armada, all different sizes but all made perfectly to plan. No question.
