Kestrel

After a morning of doing boring Monday morning worky things, I decided to take a trip out to Musselburgh to see if I could add to my list of photographed birds.

I thought this was the best shot of the day, a female kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)

I've put some of the other photos elsewhere, technically more than a little rubbish, BUT they include my first photographs of a Red-throated Diver/Loon (Gavia stellata) and my first ever sight of a Short-eared owl (Asio flammeus)! What a magnificent bird it was, quartering the fields in daylight, looking for voles and mice. Huge, too, wingspan about a meter.
