Possibly the best

By Letters

Books are my favourite things.

We live in a digital age however the printed page always makes me smile.
My favourite's include all the war poets, all the travel writers, all the history books and of course all of the novelists.
Jack London, Sassoon, Yeats, Michael Palin, Eric Blair, DH Lawrence, Neil Munro, Jerome Salinger and Gore Vidal all make the grade.
Lawrence D Hills is also a favourite. Alongside that long dead promoter of self sufficiency John Seymour he wrote about a simple lifestyle based on growing what you eat.
Hills led an exemplary life and inspired many by his example and writings. God help you if you were a mole though. He suggested pumping rotavator exhaust gas down the mole holes to drive the beasts away from his vegetable patch! Seymour was equally inspiring although he may have drawn inspiration from some unworthy relationships of a Saville variety after his split from Sally. But then, that was in a "different era".
