Wound up in Wexford

View from the roadside

Back blipped on 22nd April

We set off to drive to Franz Joseph Glacier.  W had slept really badly due to itchy legs from the sandfly attack.  So I was driving.  We turned off down a back road that started out surfaced, but subsequently became an unsealed road.  So the going was slow.  But we came across some shiny red toadstools (see extra).

We then joined Highway 6, and drove through some wonderful scenery, down the Upper and Lower Buller Gorges, towards the sea just south of Westport.  Then down the coast, stopping at viewpoints, from one we got a lovely view of Mt Cook, glistening in the sun in the distance.
