Time Square, New York City, January 1944

This is my mother right before she left for Northern Africa with the Red Cross during WWII. She went from there to Italy where she met my dad near the end of the war in Naples. We have all of her letters she wrote to her family during that time...they are pretty amazing.

She passed 39 years ago today so I am paying honor to this very smart, wonderful mom that did so much for us. Our family thought it so right that she passed in Earth Day. She was a true environmentalist. As kids, while she was driving us around to our excursions she would get us out of the car to pick up trash. We literally picked about half if the Virginia and Maryland countryside.
