Newcastle Downunder

Patriotic

Australians tend to be patriotic about Vegemite (well perhaps I am speaking for myself).  It is an acquired taste and somehow,  even if you can't bear the stuff when you are at home, when you are far away in foreign climes and staring at a bit of toast, it is  often the one thing you wish was on the table to spread on it.

A cafe in Darby Street made the Sydney news last week offering a deconstructed Vegemite on toast.  Essentially it was a couple of pieces of toasted sourdough on a wooden board with a pat of butter and a smear of Vegemite.  You chose how much of each went on the toast.  Apparently it is all the rage now.  That fad too will pass, mark my words.

Thank you Chantler for your interesting challenges and hosting this month.

PS  Thank you so much for the love on yesterdays.
