PATRIOTISM

.......... the dictionary on my computer states:
the quality of being patriotic; vigorous support for one's country: a highly decorated officer of unquestionable integrity and patriotism.

Kings Park not only presents flora of our beautiful state, it also honours the lives of those lost during WWI and WWII with plaques installed at the base of trees lining the roadways throughout the park.  The trees have a history of their own.  Today's blip.......this is a plaque of Graham Ernest 'Jim' Snook, uncle to my long time friend, Dawn.  Jim was the brother of Dawn's mum, Norma (who is still alive).  I drove through Kings Park hunting for Jim's plaque and was in tears when I found it.  So young, so patriotic (that is unquestioned) and heroic.  There must be so many stories like this around the world.  Wednesday 25 April is ANZAC Day, a day we come together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit.
The extra shows the avenue of trees with the plaques at the base.
Today, I wasn't the only one searching for names on plaques.

Thank you to chantler63 for hosting Mono Monday during April.  Many thanks, Kathy.
