Spring Flood

There are places 150 km south of here where the spring flood is threatening many houses. 30 km away it has closed a road. But here it seems fairly harmless, merely spreading across fields or through the forest.
This is the stream that flows through our local lakes, including the one we were skiing on until a couple of weeks ago. Normally it runs in a well-defined bed, about 2 metres below the surrounding fields. However, now it has risen up out of its bed (marked by the trees in what is now the central channel) and spread across the fields.
At this time of year I'm glad we live on a hill, rather than down by the water.  Even so I've been digging drainage channels to divert the melting water away from The Red House.
