Fledgeling

At the beginning of the week I happened to spot the electrician who started work on our electrics at the beginning of February and hasn't been back since. I mentioned, by way of conversation, that it would be very good if he could come and finish off the job! And hooray, he turned up this morning with his son, also an electrician. They replaced the fuse box but it took somewhat longer than expected, with much muttering about the difficulties of working in old buildings. They have a point!

As the electricity was off, and the kitchen full of toolboxes and equipment, MrM and I walked down to the milk bar for some lunch. On the way back we stopped on the bridge over the Wooler Water for a while to watch this fledgeling dipper. It hadn't quite got the hang of 'dipping', but seemed to be doing quite well at finding itself titbits from the water. One of its parents seemed to be keeping a watchful eye from a distance.

The electricians left mid-afternoon, promising to return on Monday (or maybe Tuesday, depending on weekend callouts!). It seems that the flat is not Earthed, and never has been...
