Above And Beyond...

Trellech

I wasn't feeling well but Mrs BB, a hard task master, dragged me out for a walk starting in Trellech, near Monmouth, to see our favourite wood that is amazing for bluebells. I did take a few but they'll be even better in a week or two with some more sun.

The blipfoto is taken about a mile from the finish of this short five mile walk and shows Trellech Church Spire and Mrs BB waiting for me in the lane.

Trellech was one of the major towns of medieval Wales. The Black Death  struck in 1340 and again in 1350. Subsequently the ravages of Owain Glyndwr and his men in the early 15th century further reduced the prosperity and in consequence the importance of Trellech.

Another interesting point is the name can be spelled about two dozen different ways and all are deemed acceptable!
