Life through the lens...

After a very enjoyable meal last night, and a huge English Breakfast, we really did need a good long walk to use up all those calories.

Woke to sunshine, and it was quite warm.
We met our group at 10.30am.who were quite envious to learn we stayed at the pub.

The walk was one of the best we have done.
Oxenber woods is a real paradise.
The most beautiful carpet of spring flowers I have ever seen, and that is before the bluebells are fully out.
Primroses, violets, wood anemones, and even a few orchids. ( see extras)
It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Our walk also took us to the tiny hamlet of Wharfe, and then across the Austwick Beck where we stopped for a rest by the Wash Dub Pool. ( see extra)
In times past farmers would dam the beck to form a pool in which they washed their sheep to help rid themof parasites.

This is such a beautiful part of Yorkshire, and one which we will be returning to soon, when we take my sister and BIL to the Game Cock Inn for Sunday lunch.
Can’t wait.

A very enjoyable couple of days.
