The Birds and the Butterflies

This morning I went for a lovely walk in the warm and glorious sunshine with the bird group. Firstly we walked along a very pretty country lane where we saw a Whitethroat (see Extra), a Blackcap, and heard a glorious Nightingale and also a very shouty Cetti's Warbler.  There were also many very pretty Orange-Tip butterflies, but the only one that would settle for a photo was the female above (at least I think that's what it is).

Then we walked along the river and added to the list (among many other birds) a Red Kite, a Grey Wagtail (which hid behind a branch for its photo), and something that the birders got very excited about, but which I didn't see and now can't remember!!! We also saw half a dozen hares racing around a plowed field - unfortunately too far away for a decent photo for blip. All was topped off with a cup of tea and an ice cream in the cafe in the woods. A delightful morning.
