Last year's project...

...was building a garden room. We have been talking about it nearly forever, and then finally we thought it is time either to do it or to give up thinking about it.
Fortunately we had come across a really good and reliable local builder. It took a long time because we had to get other tradesmen in to fit the glazing, the electrics, heating and so on. In the process of trying to coordinate it all, and working from home at the same time, I got rather close to losing the will to live... long weeks where nothing happened, waiting for the plasterer to come back off holiday or steel beams to be fabricated. But finally in February, the last floor tiles were laid and we could turn on the underfloor heating.
It is lovely having the garden on three sides. I see things that I wouldn't otherwise have seen - a couple of red kites flying over the other week and three roe deer in the garden one early morning...
So it has all been worth it in the end.
