Another Languedoc year...

A Mediterranean Garden

Walking the dogs is an utter joy now that all the wildflowers are coming out. This morning's walk was an aromatherapy session, as we strolled past endless mounds of wild thyme. In amongst the rocks there is honeysuckle surrounded by dianthus and aphyllanthe de Montpellier, with its blue stars sitting on top of fine blue-green stems. This is a proper Mediterranean garden. No-one prunes or waters it. Last winter it was under a thick blanket of snow in -10C and last summer it tolerated a very dry 40C, and still it comes back. What a joy.
