Isolated Bird

When I first saw this bird I did not think it was a gull but a wader of some sort as it was on its own looking for food in the meanders on Belhaven Beach. I always think of gulls as being particularly social birds. However, with hind-sight and a brief dabble in my Collins Bird Guide I think it may be a juvenile black-headed gull yet to develop the full black cap but I am certainly open to other possible identifications.
