Suck it up

I believe this is one of those long legged flies.  I never have any luck getting shots of them because they take off at faster than 1/250th of a second the minute I depress the shutter which is what my off body flash is timed to and all I am left with is an empty leaf. 

This one was  sipping on the dew on the rose leaf and was either drunk or too cold to move when I took the shot.  I went mad of course to make up for all the empty leaf shots I have got over the years.  This behaviour really intrigued me.  I have never seen it done before.
