Mr Mussel!

Not exactly but he does like them.

Set out on a walk this morning south of Ullapool on the far side of Little Loch Broom. It rained most of the way but stopped when we arrived so we had a dry 2 hour walk with An Tealach (we can see this and other mountains in the Torridon range from the house) on the other side of the Loch and the alternative community of Scoraig in the distance. We didn't walk all the way but it was interesting to see this strung out community of 70 + who took over the abandoned croft settlement and now have their own school and second generation of inhabitants.
There are no roads or services there.

We returned to Ullapool stopping for a coffee in a very nice craft gallery where the owner and Chris compared notes on braces (the wearing of).

Our aim in Ullapool was to eat at The Seafood Shack which has an award winning reputation but we've never managed to get there at the right time. A measure of how good it is is that all 6 outdoor tables were occupied plus a bench despite the crazy Scottish weather throwing us a sudden wind and shower. We'll certainly eat there again.

Popped into the lovely shop next door that is always closed when we call and had anice chat with the lady there, everyone is so friendly. I bought myself some hare and moon earrings.

Into the Ceilidh Place for a drink, loo, warm up and a quick look in their bookshop. Then lo and behold the sun came out. We walked around the town, watched the Loch Seaforth come in for the late afternoon crossing to Lewis and then did a bit of food stocking up.

Lovely sunny evening again. Stac Polaidh looked most inviting on the road onto Coigach. I know someone (Grace and John) who would have stopped to run up it but not us, not this year anyway.

G and T time again I think!

(PS Inoticed my blip yesterday seems cropped, don't know why. I might replace it)
