Bluebells again

A wonderful hot, sunny day allowed us to drive with the roof down to meet up with friends for a lunch to celebrate another big birthday (yes, another one with a zero at the end). It was a very enjoyable event and, after it was over, the continued sunshine persuaded us to take another open-top drive to Dockey Wood at Ashridge.

I haven't been to Dockey Wood for 3 years, but I wasn't disappointed.  The display of bluebells is as extensive and as intense as it can get.  There have been a few changes since I last went, mainly fencing and clearly marked pathways to protect the flowers and the tree roots (which  were getting compressed and damaged by the feet of so many visitors), but these have not diminished the enjoyment of this special place.

I hope this blip, showing just a detail of the display, shows the density of flowers and the richness of colour to be seen.

A lovely day.
