Belton Hall

Tuesday 8th May 2018 (2074)

Another glorious day (and it rained at home apparently!)

After a lovely, leisurely breakfast we went over to Belton Hall and had a wonderful walk around the gardens, full of colourful flowers, and the woods full of carpets of bluebells. We walked round all the gardens and along to the old boathouse. The large beech tree in the centre of this photo is called the "walking beech". Branches have fallen off the tree in the past and then rooted themselves and grown new trunks, where the branches have spread out and then done the same. It was quite amazing to see how far it had spread and how many trunks it had grown.

Back to the hotel for a light lunch and then sitting out on our private patio with a glass of wine, enjoying the sun. I went for a one mile swim in the pool late afternoon. I was pleased I had completed the mile as I haven't been swimming since about October.

We went out for a meal at The Stag to celebrate my sister-in-laws birthday and then finished the day with a couple of rounds of cards. What could be better? .... Oh yes, the G&T flowed well!
