St Agatha

I should have gone to Vilnius today with M.F. to take some photos, but unfortunately his road insurance had just expired.

So, D. and I went on a short drive to Sejny via a few places we find interesting. In spite of it being rather windy, it was a splendid bright day. Almost all the snow has melted.

St Agatha's neo-Gothic Chapel dates from 1789, standing in front of the Basilica in Sejny. This life-sized carved statue of her is on its roof. St Agatha is the patron of Sejny. Looking for information about her, I discover she is accredited with powers of protection from fire, earthquakes and breast cancer amongst other things.

We were able to replenish our gin and milk supply before we returned home.
