Red-bellied Woodpecker ~ male

I was standing on the porch just outside the screen door with my camera focussed on this spot in the tree - waiting, actually, for a nuthatch to come back - when this guy backed down the tree and into the frame. As woodpeckers are wont to do. Made me laugh, but also allowed me to take several photos of him.
